Windows 7 Support

As you may be aware, Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 in January 2020.
What does this mean for you and what should you do about it?

What is Happening, How will it affect you and What should you do about it?

On 14th January 2020, Microsoft will formally cease support for the Windows 7 Operating System. What this means is that you will no longer be able to contact Microsoft with any issues and also you will receive no more Windows Updates.

Why is this important? Over time your computer will become less secure and more vulnerable to hackers and viruses. You are advised not to use your computer for anything that requires security such as Internet Banking, Internet Shopping and Emails.

What could happen if I get infected? Your computer could be used to partake in a DDOS attack to disable a website or other system. A DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack is an illegal attack on a computer server by using multiple infected computers around the globe.

If your Internet Service Provider detects that your computer is infected in this way, they can restrict or terminate your Internet Service.

What should you do? You can either upgrade your Windows 7 computer to Windows 10 or you can purchase a new Windows 10 computer. We can sort out both of these for you, if required.

An upgrade will cost from £60 depending on your system. Contact us now.
